The People’s Climate March on September 21, 2014 showed U.S. and world leaders that large numbers of people in the United States cared about the climate crisis. The march was the largest climate action in history with 400,000 marchers in New York City. Thousands more people participated in 2808 other rallies in 166 countries, including 40,000 in London, 30,000 in Melbourne, 25,000 in Paris and 10,000 in Berlin.
The march successfully changed the notion that climate change was just an environmental issue. The march made it clear that this is also a social and economic justice struggle.
The People’s Climate Movement continues to build on that energy and excitement and expand across the country. We are calling for a sustainable, democratic and just economy that preserves our planet and works for all peoples.
By acting now we can prevent the worst consequences of global warming. We can build a fair economy that sustains a living environment while promoting good jobs and social and economic justice.
This National Day of Action is six weeks before international climate talks in Paris. We are calling on organizations and individuals to demand that bold steps to be taken to address the global climate crisis.
The People's Climate March on September 21, 2014 March in New York City was the inspiration for the People's Climate Movement.

ZERO: The amount of progress we’ll make if we stay home. There’s no guarantee this will work.
The only thing that’s for sure is if we stay home, nothing will change — except the climate.
What Happens Next?
The GLOBAL Climate March is planned for November 29.
On November 29th, hours before world leaders meet at the Paris climate summit, the Global Climate March will set out people powered demands for the world we want. Citizens united for an economy powered by 100% clean and safe energy, where good jobs benefit people and planet alike. A world protected from the ravages of climate change, where everyone has a right to food, water, clean air, and a healthy life..
A mega march in Paris on November 29th, and marches in other major cities across the globe that weekend. The biggest global day of action on climate in history will then crescendo as the summit ends in Paris on December 12 when citizens will have the final word and chart the fight going forward to keep dirty energy from choking our communities.
But to change everything, it takes everyone, everywhere -- in cities, towns and villages across the world. This is an open invitation to sign up now and join the mobilisations. Together, we can shape our futures and bend the course of history.
Pope Francis is known for his advocacy for climate change action. Last June the Vatican published Pope Francis’s long-awaited
encyclical on the environment, which warned of ‘serious consequences’ if the world does not act on climate change.
A week earlier this Hollywood-style spoof trailer of
"Pope Francis: The Encyclical"
was posted by Observatório do Clima, a Brazil-based nonprofit advocating for action on climate change.
It is just as intense and dramatic as your standard Hollywood trailer.
The video pitched the forthcoming message—which had attracted heavenly levels of hype—as a silver bullet in an
epic battle between the Pope’s forces of climate justice and the evil fossil fuel industry.
On August 3 President Obama released his Clean Power Plan. This plan
sets the first-ever carbon pollution standards for power plants.

We made history with over 200 actions all across the US demanding bold action on climate change
with good jobs, justice, and clean energy for all.
Outagamie County Executive Thomas Nelson spoke at the rally and presented a proclamation declaring October 14, 2015 as "Climate Awareness Day".
Signatures of rally participants were collected on scrolls to be presented to elected leaders. This scroll for Senator Ron Johnson was
presented to at his Oshkosh office on October 30, along with petition signatures collected by the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters
in support of the President's Clean Power Plan.
